Gabon is accelerating
efforts to strengthen its national cybersecurity and digital resilience
framework through a strategic partnership between the Agence Nationale des
Infrastructures Numériques et des Fréquences and cybersecurity experts from
MITRE Corporation.
During a working session
held at the ANINF Tower, the two institutions focused on advancing the design
of Gabon’s operational and institutional cybersecurity architecture. The
engagement forms part of ongoing cooperation between Gabon and the United
States aimed at enhancing national capabilities in protecting critical digital
infrastructure.
MITRE, a globally recognized
nonprofit specializing in cybersecurity, systems engineering and public-sector
technology solutions, is supporting Gabon in identifying and mapping critical
national infrastructure sectors. This work follows an earlier phase that
defined 12 priority sectors considered essential to the country’s operational
stability.
The current phase focuses on
identifying and mapping critical infrastructure assets, with the objective of
building a detailed national inventory of strategic cyber assets. This mapping
is intended to provide the government with a clearer understanding of its
digital dependencies and vulnerabilities, enabling the development of targeted
protection mechanisms.
Once completed, the
framework is expected to strengthen Gabon’s ability to prevent, detect and
respond to cyber threats, while improving coordination across institutions
responsible for national security and digital infrastructure management.
The initiative aligns with
Gabon’s broader national development priorities under the leadership of Brice
Clotaire Oligui Nguema, particularly in the areas of digital sovereignty,
modernization of public administration and protection of strategic infrastructure.
