The rapid advancement of
artificial intelligence has heightened the need for trust, cooperation, and
cross-border collaboration as countries work to build resilient digital
futures, participants at the BEYOND Expo Leadership Dialogue 2026 have
emphasised.
The high-level dialogue
brought together representatives from governments, international organizations,
academia, and the innovation ecosystem from Europe, the Middle East, Africa,
and Asia to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with emerging
technologies and digital transformation.
The discussions focused on
the importance of fostering partnerships and strengthening international
cooperation to ensure that technological progress delivers inclusive and
sustainable benefits. Participants agreed that while artificial intelligence
continues to evolve at a remarkable pace, trust among institutions,
governments, businesses, and citizens remains a critical factor in shaping
successful digital economies.
Representatives from
organizations including United Nations Research Institute for Social
Development, Smart Africa, United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging
Technologies, Agence francophone de l'Intelligence Artificielle, GIZ, and Agora
Strategy participated in the dialogue, alongside policymakers, researchers, and
industry leaders.
The event underscored the
growing recognition that digital transformation cannot be pursued in isolation
and that collaboration across regions and sectors is essential to addressing
shared challenges, including governance, innovation, digital inclusion, and the
responsible deployment of artificial intelligence.
Speaking after the event,
Executive Director of the Athens Riviera Forum, Konstantinos Foutzopoulos,
described trust and cooperation as the “real infrastructure of the future,”
noting that resilient digital ecosystems require strong partnerships and collective
action among stakeholders.
The dialogue formed part of
the broader BEYOND Expo 2026 programme, which continues to serve as a platform
for advancing conversations on technology, innovation, and international
cooperation. Participants concluded that building inclusive digital futures
will depend not only on technological advancement but also on the strength of
the relationships and institutions that support it.
