Kenya’s President William
Samoei Ruto has officially launched the Jitume Digital Hub at the Kenya School
of TVET’s Moiben Campus in Uasin Gishu County, in a move aimed at expanding
access to digital infrastructure and equipping young Kenyans with essential
digital skills.
The launch marks another
step in the government’s efforts to unlock opportunities in the rapidly growing
digital economy through the Jitume Digital Enablement Programme.
Through the programme, the
government continues to bring digital opportunities closer to communities,
creating pathways for young people to access online work, develop innovative
solutions, pursue entrepreneurship and participate meaningfully in the digital
economy.
The Technopolis Development
Authority, working alongside the ICT Authority, Communications Authority of
Kenya and other implementing partners, said it remained committed to advancing
digital inclusion and empowering Kenya’s next generation of digital talent.
The authority said every new
digital hub represents more than access to technology, describing the hubs as
opportunities for potential to be unlocked, skills to be developed and
opportunities to be created.
