Principal
Secretary for Kenya’s State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John
Kipchumba Tanui, has held strategic discussions with South Korea’s Intelligent
Transport Systems Association of Korea (ITS Korea) as part of efforts to
strengthen collaboration in smart mobility and intelligent transport systems.
Tanui
led the Kenyan delegation during the engagement with Ms. Kim Nuri, Manager at
ITS Korea, alongside representatives from the World Bank team.
The
discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation in intelligent transport
infrastructure, digital mobility systems, smart traffic management, and
knowledge exchange as part of broader digital transformation initiatives.

ITS
Korea, established in 1999 under South Korea’s National Transport System
Efficiency Act, plays a central role in advancing intelligent transport
solutions through research, policy advisory services, technology promotion,
standardisation, and innovation within the mobility ecosystem.
Speaking
after the meeting, Tanui commended ITS Korea for its leadership in intelligent
transport systems development and innovation-driven mobility solutions, noting
that such partnerships are critical in supporting modern and digitally
integrated transport systems.
The
engagement also explored potential areas for technical collaboration and shared
learning in transport digitisation and smart infrastructure development as
governments increasingly adopt data-driven mobility solutions to improve urban
transport efficiency and service delivery.
