African
regulators responsible for personal data protection have met in Abidjan to
discuss ways of enhancing cooperation on digital governance and strengthening
data protection frameworks across the continent.
The
engagement took place on the sidelines of the 9th RAPDP Conference, where the
President of the Regulatory Council of the Autorité de Régulation des TIC
(ARTCI), Autorité de Régulation des TIC, Mr. Roger Félix Adom, received a
delegation of African data protection authority leaders.

The
delegation was led by Mr. Adamou Iro, President of the High Authority for the
Protection of Personal Data of Niger and head of the RAPDP network, bringing
together regulators focused on strengthening privacy and digital governance
systems across Africa.
Discussions
focused on emerging challenges related to personal data protection, regulatory
harmonization, and the development of stronger institutional cooperation
mechanisms among African data protection authorities.

Participants
emphasized the importance of building trusted digital ecosystems that safeguard
citizens’ data while supporting innovation and the growth of digital economies
across the continent.
The
meeting reflected a shared commitment among African regulators to reinforce
collaboration and ensure more effective, coordinated responses to evolving data
protection and digital governance issues.
