timbuktoo Africa has
received the Digital Health Innovation and Youth Empowerment Award at the
Nigerian Telehealth Conference 2.0 in Abuja, in recognition of its contribution
to digital health innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive healthcare in Nigeria.
The organisation said the
recognition reflects its work through the United Nations Development
Programme’s (UNDP) flagship timbuktoo initiative to strengthen Africa’s
innovation ecosystem, empower HealthTech entrepreneurs and bridge the gap
between innovation and policy.
timbuktoo Africa also
highlighted the role of African innovators in shaping healthcare delivery,
citing Dr. Funmi Adewara, founder of Mobihealth International and an alumna of
the timbuktoo HealthTech Hub, who recently contributed to the multistakeholder
validation of Nigeria’s National Telemedicine Guidelines and Implementation
Plan 2027–2031.
Her participation, the
organisation said, demonstrates the importance of empowering African innovators
to shape policies that advance telemedicine and expand equitable access to
healthcare.
timbuktoo Africa credited
its partners for their continued collaboration, saying the recognition would
not have been possible without their support.
The organisation reaffirmed
its commitment to empowering the next generation of African HealthTech leaders
and advancing innovation towards a more accessible, inclusive and resilient
healthcare system across the continent.
